The potential for severe weather and locally heavy rainfall has diminished, with only a low risk for gusty winds and locally heavy rain if thunderstorms develop. Peak heat index values will range from the upper 80s to mid 90s.
A Small Craft Advisory and Beach Hazards Statement are in effect for the Lake Erie shoreline. The advisory extends from Maumee Bay to Vermilion until 12 PM today, and from Vermilion to Ripley, NY, until 4 PM. High swim risk due to rip currents is expected until 4 PM for beaches in Cuyahoga, Lake, and Ashtabula counties in Ohio and Erie County, PA. Waves of 2 to 5 feet are anticipated, with greater than 4 feet in open waters and nearshore waters east of Cleveland. Winds will be from the west to southwest at 15 to 25 knots this morning, diminishing from west to east in the afternoon.
