Columbus, Ohio – A change in the weather pattern is bringing slightly cooler and drier air across Ohio today, offering a brief break from recent summer heat. Central Ohio, including Columbus, can expect highs in the lower to middle 80s, while communities along and south of the Ohio River may still climb near 90 this afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, the cooler air mass is most noticeable in central and northern parts of the state, where lower humidity will add some comfort. Lows tonight will dip into the 50s north of I-70 and into the low 60s around central and southern counties, giving residents the first mild night in weeks.

Cities such as Dayton, Springfield, and Marysville are expected to stay in the mid-80s, while Cincinnati and Portsmouth may still reach 89 to 90 degrees. Drivers and outdoor workers should still prepare for midday heat, but conditions are less oppressive compared with last week.

The cooler trend is expected to hold through midweek, with a chance for scattered storms later in the week as warmer air pushes back into the region. More updates are likely as storm chances develop.
