Columbus, Ohio – Ohioans can expect an early taste of fall tonight as cooler air settles across the state, keeping daytime highs in the low to mid-70s before dropping into the 40s overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, temperatures will remain several degrees below normal, with highs topping out around 74 in Columbus, 73 in Dayton, and near 75 in Cincinnati. Overnight lows will dip to 49 in the capital city, 46 in Dayton, and around 50 in Cincinnati, while some northern counties such as Kenton and Celina may see readings as low as 46 to 47 degrees.
Drivers in rural areas should be prepared for patchy fog by early morning, particularly in river valleys where the cool air meets lingering moisture. Residents are advised to keep jackets handy for late-night activities or early commutes, as wind chills may make temperatures feel even cooler at sunrise.
The National Weather Service says the seasonable pattern will hold through midweek, with no major weather hazards expected.
