Columbus, Ohio – Cooler air will keep much of central Ohio in the low to mid-70s Tuesday as a weak system brings a slight chance of rain north of Interstate 70. The National Weather Service in Wilmington reports that showers will be brief and scattered, with coverage limited mostly to areas around Columbus, Newark, and Marysville.

According to the National Weather Service, rain chances remain around 20 to 25 percent north of I-70, while Dayton, Cincinnati, and points farther south will stay largely dry. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy across much of the region.

Travel should not see major disruptions, but motorists north of Columbus could run into isolated wet roads during the afternoon and early evening. Winds will stay light out of the northwest, keeping conditions comfortable for late August.

Temperatures will remain well below seasonal averages, topping out near 72 in Columbus, 70 in Sidney, and 74 in Portsmouth. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 40s to near 50, which could mean an early fall feel for morning commuters.

Conditions improve midweek with sunshine returning Wednesday and highs climbing into the mid-70s.
