CINCINNATI, Ohio — Fog clings low along the Ohio River this early morning, the city waking to still air and a steady chill near 40 degrees. The calm, however, won’t last — a major change arrives by Friday as rain and gusty winds sweep through the Tri-State, marking the region’s first real taste of November’s shifting rhythm.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a dry, sunny stretch continues through Thursday with highs in the mid-60s. But by Friday morning, clouds will thicken ahead of a strong front pushing east from the Plains. Rain will move in by early afternoon, and scattered thunderstorms could briefly rattle parts of the metro between 3 and 8 p.m. Wind gusts near 25 mph are possible along I-75 and I-71, especially north toward Dayton and south into northern Kentucky.

While rainfall totals are expected to remain modest — around a quarter to half an inch — brief downpours could slow the Friday commute and affect early weekend travel plans. Temperatures will fall sharply into the upper 40s by late Friday night, a reminder that colder air is gathering just to the west.

Saturday looks brighter and drier, though another round of light rain may return by Sunday. Veterans Day early next week brings cooler highs in the 40s, signaling winter’s steady advance across the Ohio Valley. For now, residents should plan for wet roads, gusty winds, and that unmistakable late-fall feeling as the first November chill begins to take hold.
