CLEVELAND, Ohio – A Frost Advisory has been issued for much of northern and central Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania, where temperatures are expected to fall into the low 30s between 1AM and 9AM EDT Friday. The National Weather Service in Cleveland said another night of calm winds and clear skies will allow for widespread frost formation across inland communities.
According to the advisory, affected areas include Lucas, Lorain, Summit, Trumbull, Mahoning, Crawford (PA), and surrounding counties, covering cities such as Cleveland, Toledo, Akron, Youngstown, and Meadville. Temperatures are forecast to dip near freezing for several hours, creating ideal conditions for frost to develop on exposed surfaces.
Residents are urged to protect sensitive plants and gardens before temperatures fall. Cover tender vegetation, or bring potted plants indoors. According to the Ohio Department of Agriculture, this frost event could damage or kill remaining late-season crops if left uncovered.
Motorists may notice frosted windshields and slippery bridges early Friday morning. Sunshine and light winds will help melt frost quickly, with afternoon highs reaching the upper 40s and low 50s. Another chilly night may follow Friday before a warming trend develops over the weekend.
