Wilmington, OH – A winter system is expected to spread into Ohio on Saturday, bringing accumulating snow to parts of the region before transitioning to a wintry mix Saturday night and early Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. Forecasters say travel impacts are possible Saturday evening as conditions deteriorate.
According to the National Weather Service, snow will begin moving into the region Saturday morning, gradually expanding from west to east. The highest confidence for impactful accumulating snowfall is focused across west-central and northwest Ohio, where colder air will remain in place longest.
By Saturday afternoon and evening, areas farther south—including the Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati corridors—may see precipitation transition into a rain/snow mix, and eventually plain rain for some locations overnight. However, forecasters caution that temperatures near freezing could still allow slick spots to develop on untreated roads.
A new probability map from NWS Wilmington shows a 60–90% chance of at least 1 inch of snow across much of western Ohio from Saturday into Sunday. Lower chances extend into central and southern counties, where mixing is more likely.
Travel impacts may develop Saturday evening and continue into the overnight hours, particularly on elevated surfaces and rural roadways. The National Weather Service urges travelers to check updated forecasts and allow extra time if driving Saturday night.
