Wilmington, Ohio – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for a wide stretch of the Ohio Valley, with accumulating snow expected Tuesday across parts of Ohio, northern Kentucky, and southeast Indiana.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, snow is forecast to develop Tuesday morning and continue through the evening hours, producing total accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. Forecasters note that locally higher amounts are possible where heavier snow bands develop.

The advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. EST Tuesday and covers much of southwest and south-central Ohio, including Cincinnati, Dayton, Hamilton, Middletown, Milford, Wilmington, Chillicothe, and Portsmouth. In northern Kentucky, impacted areas include Covington, Newport, Florence, Independence, Alexandria, Maysville, and surrounding communities. Portions of southeast Indiana, including Dearborn, Ripley, Franklin, Ohio, and Switzerland counties, are also included.

The primary concern will be deteriorating road conditions during the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Snow-covered and slushy roads, especially on untreated surfaces, bridges, and overpasses, may lead to slower travel and an increased risk of accidents.

While snowfall amounts are not expected to be extreme, even modest accumulations could significantly impact high-traffic corridors across the Tri-State region. Commuters, students, and young workers traveling during peak hours may experience delays.

Drivers are urged to slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra time to reach destinations. Travelers can monitor current road conditions through state transportation resources, including ohgo.com in Ohio, goky.ky.gov in Kentucky, and 511in.org in Indiana.

Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring forecast updates in case snowfall amounts or timing change as the system moves through the Ohio Valley.
