According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, wind gusts could reach up to 30 mph today, especially after 3 p.m. Showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely between late morning and late evening, with a 90% chance of rain. While rainfall amounts are expected to stay under a tenth of an inch, heavier downpours and lightning are possible in any thunderstorm.

Travelers on U.S. Route 68 and State Route 73 should expect reduced visibility and slick roads during afternoon and evening hours. Winds will be steady from the southwest between 15 and 20 mph, creating challenging driving conditions for high-profile vehicles.

Thursday keeps the umbrella in play with a 50% chance of rain during the day. Temperatures will hold near 58°F with breezy conditions continuing into the evening. Friday finally brings relief, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 62°F.

Looking ahead, Saturday remains dry but clouds build into Sunday with a 60% chance of showers by evening. Rain continues into Memorial Day, with a 60% chance of precipitation and highs near 66°F. Another round of showers is likely Monday night and Tuesday.
