Wilmington, Ohio – Thunderstorms are expected to slam parts of Ohio on Tuesday, bringing heavy rain, possible flash flooding, and strong winds to the Wilmington area by afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a line of storms is expected to develop after 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 20. Winds may gust between 15–20 mph, with stronger isolated storms producing damaging wind and heavy rainfall. The storms are forecast to continue through Tuesday evening, with a secondary round likely into Wednesday.

Drivers along US-68 and State Route 73 should prepare for water ponding and reduced visibility. Travel may be hazardous Tuesday afternoon. Rainfall totals between a quarter and half an inch are possible Tuesday, with more rain expected Wednesday. Spot flooding is a concern, especially in low-lying and poorly drained areas.

Tuesday night will remain unsettled, with an 80% chance of continued showers and storms. The risk of thunder diminishes by Wednesday morning, but rain is expected to linger. Wednesday brings another round of storms—mainly before 2 p.m.—as high temperatures hover in the mid-60s.

Looking ahead, Thursday and Friday both include chances for showers, with cooler-than-average highs in the low 60s. Saturday turns warmer and mostly sunny, reaching the upper 60s.
