Mansfield, OH – Steady rainfall is expected to drench much of northern and central Ohio through Sunday morning, with Mansfield and surrounding areas potentially seeing up to 3 inches of precipitation.

According to the National Weather Service Cleveland, the region will experience two significant rounds of rain — one beginning Friday evening and a second system arriving Saturday night. A Flood Watch remains in effect for a large portion of northern Ohio, including Richland, Marion, and Crawford counties, due to the volume of rainfall anticipated over a short period.

Mansfield, Marion, and Canton are expected to receive between 2 and 3 inches of total rainfall by 8 a.m. Sunday, while cities like Cleveland, Findlay, and Youngstown could see between 1.5 to 2 inches. Lesser amounts are forecasted along the Lake Erie shore, including Sandusky, Ashtabula, and Erie, PA, where 1 to 1.5 inches are expected.

Residents are urged to monitor low-lying and flood-prone areas, especially overnight Saturday. Motorists should avoid driving through flooded roadways and allow extra travel time. Secure outdoor items and check local alerts via weather.gov or NOAA radio.

This weekend’s rainfall could mark one of the wetter early Aprils in recent years for parts of central Ohio.
