Cleveland, OH – Northern Ohio is in for a blustery and wet stretch through Friday morning, with heavy rainfall and strong winds expected to impact travel and Halloween displays, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland.
Forecasters say rainfall totals could reach 1.5 to 2 inches across northeast Ohio by early Friday, especially in areas near Lake Erie. Winds will strengthen throughout Thursday, with sustained speeds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts potentially topping 45 mph overnight.
According to the National Weather Service, the strongest gusts are expected near the lakeshore, including cities such as Cleveland, Mentor, and Ashtabula. The rain is forecast to transition into lake-effect showers late Thursday night into Friday, with cooler temperatures following behind the system.
Motorists are urged to drive cautiously during heavy rain and strong crosswinds, particularly on elevated roadways and bridges. Residents should also secure loose outdoor items and decorations ahead of the gusty conditions.
