Columbus, OH – Raindrops streak across windshields in central Ohio this morning as steady rain and brisk winds kick off the final days of October. The early commute will be slow across I-70, I-71, and Route 33, with pooling water and reduced visibility expected through the late morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, rain will continue through midday with gusts up to 30 mph and brief heavier bursts possible. Temperatures will hold near 50°F, with the wind adding a chill that feels more like mid-November. Rain gradually tapers late this afternoon, setting the stage for a calm, cooler stretch heading into the weekend.

By Friday and Saturday, skies turn partly sunny and dry with highs in the mid-50s and lows in the 30s—ideal for outdoor Halloween events or early leaf cleanup. Sunday will bring another pleasant day, with temperatures rebounding slightly before the next pattern change.

That shift could be significant. Long-range models show Ohio’s first chance of snow by mid-November, especially in northern counties and along the I-80 corridor. Between November 8–21, colder air dropping from the upper Midwest could spark the first mix or flurry events of the season.

For now, residents can expect one more damp, blustery day before fall’s best weather returns for the weekend. But the countdown to the state’s first winter preview has officially begun.
