Cleveland, OH – A busy stretch of weather is ahead for Northeast Ohio and parts of Northwest Pennsylvania as the region heads into Thanksgiving week, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland. A series of systems will bring rain, colder temperatures, and eventually accumulating snow for portions of the area.

According to the National Weather Service, a low-pressure system arrives Tuesday, spreading a round of widespread rain showers across Northern Ohio. Temperatures will remain mild enough for all rain through the day, with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s from Cleveland to Akron, Youngstown, and Erie.

A strong cold front moves through on Wednesday, ushering in a sharp drop in temperatures. Highs fall into the 30s, with lows dipping into the 20s Wednesday night. As colder air filters in, any lingering rain showers will transition to snow, particularly by Wednesday evening.

Forecasters say confidence is increasing for lake-effect snow late Thursday into Friday, especially across the traditional snowbelts of Northeast Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania. While exact totals remain uncertain, the setup could produce accumulating snowfall for communities downwind of Lake Erie, including Ashtabula, Erie, Chardon, and parts of Geauga and Lake counties.

Elsewhere across Northern Ohio—including Cleveland, Lorain, Mansfield, and Toledo—periods of lighter snow showers are possible but major accumulation remains less certain.

Temperatures stay well below average late week, with Thanksgiving Day highs only in the upper 20s to low 30s. Holiday travelers should prepare for possible slick roads, reduced visibility, and rapidly changing conditions in snowbelt areas.
