Columbus, Ohio – Sunshine and warmer air will dominate central Ohio skies this week, giving Patriot Day events on Thursday plenty of heat. Outdoor gatherings in Columbus and nearby suburbs could see afternoon highs reaching the mid-80s, a reminder that summer-like weather hasn’t left yet.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Thursday will be sunny with a high near 83°F. Winds will stay light, shifting northeast at 5 mph, keeping conditions calm but warm for mid-September. Those traveling along I-71 or I-70 should stay hydrated and use caution with the sun glare during late-day commutes.

Friday brings even hotter air with highs climbing to 85°F under clear skies. Nights remain mild, dropping only into the upper 50s, making it easier for late evening ceremonies or community vigils tied to Patriot Day observances.

Saturday holds steady with mostly sunny skies and a high near 86°F. Outdoor plans, including football games, festivals, or memorial services, will move forward without threat of rain. By Sunday and Monday, temperatures edge higher still, topping out at 88°F and 87°F, respectively. While the pattern favors outdoor events, organizers should plan shade and hydration stations to prevent heat-related issues.

Though September usually signals cooler fall air, Columbus and central Ohio will hold onto summer’s warmth through at least early next week.
