Columbus, OH – Drivers across central and western Ohio should prepare for changing winter travel conditions overnight and into Sunday, as scattered snow showers move through the region during the early morning hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, plummeting temperatures and gusty winds will arrive late tonight, accompanied by snow showers lasting into Sunday daytime, primarily between 12 a.m. and 12 p.m. Sunday.

Forecasters warn that while snowfall totals are expected to remain light overall, some snow showers may briefly become heavier. These heavier bands could lead to quick, localized accumulations, especially during the early morning hours, and cause rapidly changing visibility for drivers.

Snowfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are possible in isolated areas across parts of central Ohio, including near Columbus, Dayton, and surrounding communities, though many locations may see less. Gusty winds combined with falling snow could further reduce visibility, particularly on open roadways and highways.

The National Weather Service urges motorists to use extra caution when driving through snow showers, noting that conditions may change quickly from mile to mile. Bridges and overpasses may become slick first as temperatures drop overnight.

Snow showers are expected to taper off later Sunday, but cold conditions will persist. Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and road conditions before traveling, especially during the Sunday morning commute window.
