Cleveland, Ohio – Thunderstorms will likely roll into northeast Ohio by Saturday afternoon, bringing locally heavy rainfall and lightning from Cleveland to Canton.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, showers and thunderstorms are expected to increase in coverage by midday Saturday, July 26, with the highest rain chances near the lakeshore. Winds will remain light, but bursts of wind and localized downpours are possible during stronger cells. Rain totals could range from a quarter to half an inch, especially in thunderstorms.

Saturday’s high will reach 86°F before storms increase. Rain continues into Saturday night with another round of showers and storms, tapering early Sunday. While severe weather is not expected, drivers along I-90, I-71, and I-77 should watch for reduced visibility and ponding water during heavy bursts.

The unsettled pattern continues into Monday, with more storms likely by afternoon. Residents should charge devices, check sump pumps, and stay weather-aware if venturing outdoors this weekend.

This marks a notable summer shift as the first prolonged stretch of stormy afternoons returns since early July. Warm, humid air lingers into next week with spotty rain chances.
