Wilmington, OH – Snow showers are moving across central and southern Ohio today, bringing low visibility and slick travel conditions, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
Forecasters say enhanced snowfall bands could lead to brief periods of reduced visibility, especially during heavier bursts. Light accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are expected, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces. However, slick spots may develop on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads through the afternoon and evening.
High temperatures will stay in the mid-30s to near 40°F, with much colder air settling in overnight. Lows will dip into the 20s, allowing any remaining moisture to refreeze and create additional hazards for early Tuesday commuters.
Motorists in Dayton, Wilmington, Chillicothe, and Columbus suburbs are advised to slow down and allow extra travel time. Visibility could drop quickly in passing snow showers, and travel may become slippery at times.
Conditions are expected to improve by Tuesday afternoon as the snow moves east and skies begin to clear.
