Cleveland, OH – A winter storm is set to bring snow and freezing rain to Northeast Ohio by midweek, with conditions worsening Wednesday night. Cleveland residents should prepare for hazardous travel and freezing temperatures as the system moves through.
According to the National Weather Service, Monday and Tuesday will remain mostly dry, with highs around 29°F and 31°F, respectively. However, by Wednesday, a system will bring a 30% chance of snow showers in the afternoon, followed by a 90% chance of snow and freezing rain at night. Lows will drop to 28°F, increasing the risk of icy roads.
Thursday morning could see lingering snow and rain before the system moves out. Temperatures will hover in the low 30s during the day and dip into the teens at night, reinforcing the risk of refreezing on roads and sidewalks.
Drivers should exercise caution, particularly on I-90 and local highways, where ice buildup could cause delays. Officials recommend keeping an emergency kit in vehicles and limiting unnecessary travel.
With cold conditions persisting, Cleveland residents should dress in layers and monitor weather updates. More winter weather is possible by the weekend.
