Cleveland, Ohio – Damaging wind gusts and heavy rain could hit much of northern Ohio on Saturday, with severe thunderstorms possible from afternoon into late night.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather is in effect Saturday, July 19, for cities including Cleveland, Sandusky, Elyria, and Toledo. The greatest threats include isolated to scattered storms capable of producing damaging winds, localized flooding, and possibly hail—especially during the first round expected by mid-afternoon.
Areas under the slight risk zone span north-central and northeast Ohio, with places like Mansfield, Ashland, and Lorain potentially seeing quick-developing storms. While timing remains uncertain, the NWS warns that multiple rounds of storms may move through, particularly during the late afternoon and again overnight.
Residents should secure outdoor items, avoid travel during peak storm hours, and remain weather-aware. Power outages and tree damage are possible with strong wind gusts. Those camping or attending outdoor events Saturday should have a shelter plan in place.
The NWS will issue additional updates as storm models evolve. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or local alerts for warnings.
