Wilmington, Ohio – Scattered thunderstorms and lingering heat could make travel tricky across Ohio on Saturday, with localized flooding and high humidity in the mix.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Friday for much of southwest and central Ohio, with heat index values near 100°F. But the bigger threat arrives Saturday afternoon, when widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across the region.

Storms are most likely between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, particularly along the I-71 and I-75 corridors. Areas like Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus could see heavy downpours, gusty winds, and localized flash flooding. Rainfall amounts may exceed one inch in the hardest-hit spots.

If you’re heading outdoors this weekend, avoid flooded roadways and postpone yardwork until after the storms. Stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and check on neighbors—especially those without air conditioning.

Sunday looks calmer, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 90°F before another round of storms returns late Sunday into Monday. The National Weather Service warns that damaging winds are possible Monday afternoon through Monday night, especially in areas north of Wilmington and Dayton.

5-Day Weather Outlook (June 27–July 2):

  • Friday: Mostly sunny, high near 91°F. Slight storm chance late.
  • Saturday: Thunderstorms likely after 2 p.m., high near 88°F. Flooding possible.
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny, high 90°F. Storms return late.
  • Monday: Strong storms likely, high 87°F. Winds could be damaging.
  • Tuesday (July 2): Storms linger early, high near 85°F.
