Wilmington, Ohio – Comfortable conditions across much of Ohio won’t last much longer, as rising humidity begins creeping back into the region starting Monday, setting the stage for a return to daily afternoon storms by midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, drier air remains in place through Saturday, but dew points will steadily rise beginning Sunday night. By Wednesday, much of southern and central Ohio—including Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus—will see dew points reach into the mid to upper 60s, making conditions feel noticeably more muggy. Dew points will climb further by late week, topping 70°F in parts of the Miami Valley and southern counties.
The increased humidity will also bring higher chances for pop-up afternoon showers and storms, particularly between Tuesday and Friday. Areas like Springfield, Chillicothe, and Portsmouth could see brief downpours and lightning during peak heating hours. While widespread severe weather isn’t expected, heavy rain and gusty winds are possible in stronger cells.
Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts, stay hydrated, and avoid outdoor work during peak heat hours. Storm chances and high humidity will likely persist into next weekend, with updated advisories expected by midweek.
