Columbus, OH – A quiet, frosty start to the week will give way to rain and a sharp cool-down by Thanksgiving as a cold front sweeps across Ohio. Drivers and early travelers should plan for wet roads Tuesday and brisk, chilly air arriving just in time for the holiday.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, rain is expected to develop late Monday night and continue through Tuesday afternoon. Periods of steady rain may reduce visibility during commutes along I-70 and I-71, with totals near a half inch possible. Temperatures will rise into the upper 50s Tuesday before a strong cold push sends readings tumbling through midweek.

By Wednesday, skies turn mostly cloudy but drier, and Thanksgiving morning may start with readings in the 20s — the coldest of the season so far. Daytime highs will only reach the mid-30s Thursday under partly sunny skies, giving the holiday a crisp, early-winter feel.

The cold pattern continues through the weekend, with frosty mornings and light snow chances returning by Saturday night.

Five-Day Outlook (Nov. 24–28):

  • Tuesday: Rain likely, breezy; high 58°F.

  • Thanksgiving Day: Partly sunny, cold; high 35°F.
