Cleveland, OH – Rain will move into northern Ohio today ahead of a strong cold front, with lake effect snow expected later. Conditions could create hazardous travel for residents north of I-90 as temperatures drop sharply this evening into Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, showers will intensify after 1 p.m. today, accompanied by south winds reaching up to 7 mph. A stronger cold front will pass through the area on Wednesday, bringing rain, snow, and wind gusts as high as 40 mph.

By late Wednesday night, lake effect snow is expected to develop in Erie County, Pennsylvania, and Ashtabula County, Ohio, where up to six inches could accumulate in some areas. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from 4 p.m. Wednesday through 7 a.m. Friday for regions north of I-90.

Thursday will see snow showers taper off in the morning but remain breezy, with wind chills in the teens. Friday is forecast to be partly sunny with a high of 33°F, offering some respite before the next round of precipitation Saturday.

Drivers should exercise caution, particularly during the evening hours today and early Thursday morning. Visibility may be reduced by blowing snow, especially along highways near Lake Erie.
