Wilmington, Ohio – Rain is making a steady return to much of Ohio on Tuesday, with widespread showers expected to soak roadways from Cincinnati to Columbus through Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, scattered rain will begin Tuesday morning and intensify overnight, potentially bringing locally heavy downpours. Highs will remain well below seasonal norms, topping out in the low to mid-60s across much of the state — nearly 10 degrees cooler than Monday’s readings.

Cities like Dayton, Chillicothe, and Springfield should prepare for slippery roads and limited visibility during the Tuesday evening commute. Wilmington and surrounding counties may also see periods of moderate to heavy rainfall through early Wednesday. Temperatures in areas such as Richmond, Indiana and Portsmouth, Ohio will hover near 65°F, keeping the air damp and chilly.

Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time and avoid flooded roads, especially during overnight hours when rain could fall more heavily. Make sure mobile devices are charged and outdoor drainage is clear to prevent pooling near homes.

Rain chances taper off by midweek, but below-normal temperatures are expected to linger. Another round of advisories may be issued if rainfall totals increase.
