WILMINGTON, Ohio – Fog could blanket roads in southwest Ohio early Sunday, creating dangerous driving conditions before sunshine breaks through later in the day. Drivers on I-71 and surrounding highways should use caution before 8 a.m., when low visibility may linger.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, patchy fog will be the biggest concern to start Sunday, but skies clear quickly with a high near 79 degrees expected by the afternoon. Winds remain light, which means fog could hang longer in low-lying areas and valleys.

Local officials urge drivers to allow extra travel time, slow down, and use low-beam headlights in fog-prone areas. Even short commutes could be delayed until conditions improve. By late morning, sunshine dominates, offering a warm and comfortable afternoon for outdoor plans.

Sunday night turns mostly clear with a low near 53 degrees. The cooler air continues into Monday, with sunny skies and highs near 72. Overnight lows dip into the upper 40s, marking the coolest stretch of the week.

Travelers and residents can expect steady conditions much of next week. Sunshine holds through midweek, with highs in the low 70s and crisp, clear nights. No major rain or storm systems appear likely through Friday.

The National Weather Service will issue updates if fog lingers beyond the early morning.
