Ohio – Early sunlight breaks through scattered clouds above the Ohio River this morning as warm air surges into the Cincinnati metro. The calm feel won’t last long. Winds will rapidly strengthen and storms could follow later tonight.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a Wind Advisory begins at 11 a.m. and continues until 8 a.m. Monday across southwest Ohio, southeast Indiana, and northern Kentucky. South winds will increase to 20–30 mph with gusts around 45 mph through the afternoon and evening.

Drivers across the Cincinnati metro should prepare for crosswinds along Interstate 71, Interstate 75, and Interstate 275, especially on elevated bridges crossing the Ohio River. High-profile vehicles could experience sudden gusts during the afternoon commute.

Temperatures will climb quickly today, reaching around 73°F across Cincinnati, Covington, and Florence. That brief burst of spring warmth will help fuel showers and thunderstorms developing later tonight as a cold front pushes into the Ohio Valley.

Meteorologists say storms may arrive after midnight, bringing periods of heavy rain and gusty winds. A few stronger storms cannot be ruled out, though damaging winds remain the main concern.

Conditions change dramatically Monday as colder air pours into the region. Rain showers may briefly mix with snow showers Monday afternoon, especially north of Cincinnati into southeast Indiana.

That rapid temperature drop could create slick spots if wet roads refreeze, particularly on bridges and overpasses early Tuesday.

By midweek, the Ohio Valley slowly rebounds from the cold snap. Temperatures climb toward the lower 60s by Thursday, bringing a renewed push of early spring warmth before St. Patrick’s Day celebrations begin across the region.

Secure outdoor objects today and stay weather aware tonight as winds and storms move through the Cincinnati area.
