Ohio – Rain is coming down steady across Columbus this morning, soaking roads and pushing water into low spots along I-70, I-71, and surface streets. Puddles are forming quickly, and visibility drops in waves as mist rises off wet pavement.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, periods of heavier rain this morning are raising concerns for localized flooding, especially in poor drainage areas and near creeks . Some locations could see up to a half inch of rainfall, enough to overwhelm storm drains in a short time.
Drivers across Franklin County are already seeing slower travel as water collects along ramps and underpasses. Use caution near the Scioto River and smaller tributaries, where water levels can rise quickly. If you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around immediately.
Conditions begin improving by late morning as rain tapers off and skies gradually brighten. Highs reach the upper 40s today, but a sharp cooldown follows tonight, with temperatures dropping near 29°F. That could lead to isolated slick spots early Saturday where moisture lingers.
Saturday brings sunshine and calmer weather, with highs near 47°F. By Sunday, temperatures rebound to near 59°F under partly sunny skies. A stronger spring push arrives Monday, when highs climb to around 68°F, though scattered showers may return later in the day.
Looking ahead, warmer air continues building into next week, with highs pushing into the 70s by midweek along with periodic rain chances.
If you’re commuting this morning, slow down on wet roads and watch for pooling water.
