Cleveland, Ohio – A major winter storm is expected to impact much of northern Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania this weekend, bringing widespread accumulating snow and dangerous travel conditions that could linger into early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, snow will arrive from south to north Saturday evening, reaching areas near Mansfield and Marion first before spreading into the Cleveland metro late Saturday night. Snow is expected to intensify overnight, with the heaviest snowfall rates occurring on Sunday. Winter Storm Watches and Warnings are in effect across much of the region from Saturday evening through Monday.

Forecasters say most of northern Ohio can expect 6 to 10 inches of snow, with the highest totals favored across the southern and eastern portions of the region, including areas from Mount Vernon through Akron, Canton, and toward Youngstown. Some locations in that corridor have a strong chance of seeing totals exceed 10 inches. Confidence continues to increase in a high-impact event, though exact amounts may still shift.

Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate quickly late Saturday night and become treacherous on Sunday as snowfall rates increase. Major routes including I-71, I-77, I-80, and I-90 could see snow-covered roads and reduced visibility.

Snow is expected to taper Monday, but lingering impacts are likely. Residents are urged to delay non-essential travel, prepare vehicles and homes now, and monitor updates as warnings may be adjusted.
