Cleveland, Ohio – Storms and scattered showers could dampen Friday plans across northern Ohio, with the greatest threat looming along the U.S. Route 30 corridor by late afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, isolated thunderstorms and rain showers are expected to continue through early evening, especially in northwest Ohio and areas south of Route 30. Highs will remain slightly below normal, topping out between 78°F and 82°F in cities like Cleveland, Akron, and Findlay.

Drivers along I-75 and U.S. 30 should watch for slick roads and sudden downpours near Marion, Mansfield, and Sandusky. While widespread flooding isn’t expected, localized ponding on roads is possible during heavier cells. Residents are urged to monitor local alerts and avoid outdoor activities during periods of lightning.

This cooler, unsettled weather pattern brings a break from recent heat and serves as a reminder that even summer days can turn stormy in the Midwest. Friday marks a modest cooldown, with many areas peaking just under seasonal averages.

The chance for rain tapers off by late tonight, with drier, warmer conditions returning over the weekend.
