Cleveland, Ohio – Triple-digit heat index values will bake northeast Ohio on Tuesday as a dangerous summer weather alert remains in effect until 8 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a Heat Advisory remains active for north-central, northeast, and northwest Ohio — including Cuyahoga, Summit, Lucas, and Stark counties — with heat index readings expected to reach 104°F. The advisory also stretches into northwest Pennsylvania.
Residents along the I-90 corridor, including Cleveland, Lorain, and Erie, should avoid prolonged outdoor exposure. Consecutive days of high humidity and warm nights will offer little relief, with heat indices remaining in the upper 90s into Wednesday.
Those who must be outdoors, especially outdoor workers or athletes, are urged to drink fluids frequently, wear lightweight clothing, and take breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends frequent rest breaks and early morning shift adjustments.
Power companies and emergency services may experience increased demand, and vulnerable populations, including seniors and young children, are especially at risk for heat-related illnesses.
Scattered thunderstorms are possible Tuesday night, offering minor relief, but additional humidity and rain chances will return by midweek. A more unsettled pattern continues into the weekend.
