OHIO – Bundle up, Buckeye State. A Frost Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Friday for much of northern and northeastern Ohio, including the Cleveland metro area, as temperatures dip near 33°F away from the Lake Erie shoreline.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland warns that frost could damage sensitive vegetation and plants if not protected. Gardeners are urged to cover tender plants and bring in any potted flowers before the coldest air settles in. Frost will be most widespread across Lorain, Medina, Ashland, and Wayne Counties, with colder pockets possible in rural valleys.

After the chilly start, Friday warms up under mostly sunny skies, reaching near 67°F—a temporary break before a stormy weekend sets in. Showers move into the area late Friday night, becoming more frequent Saturday, and intensifying by Sunday morning. Some gusts may exceed 40 mph, especially along I-90 and I-71, where travel may be affected by low visibility and slick roads.

Sunday will bring the heaviest rain, along with a few thunderstorms. Expect highs near 71°F, with temperatures dropping again as the front pushes through. Sunshine returns Monday, but gusty winds will linger, keeping conditions brisk along the lakeshore.

Ohioans should prepare for a weekend of wild weather swings—from frost-covered lawns Friday to umbrellas and raincoats by Sunday.
