Cincinnati, OH – A Freeze Warning threatens Cincinnati and much of Ohio early Tuesday morning as spring weather takes a sharp turn. Sub-freezing temperatures could damage crops and plants, prompting urgent precautions from local residents.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a Freeze Warning remains in effect from 1 AM to 11 AM EDT Tuesday, April 8. Temperatures will fall into the lower to mid-20s across east central and southeast Indiana, northeast and northern Kentucky, and much of central, south central, southwest, and west central Ohio. Cities along the I-71 corridor, including Cincinnati, Wilmington, and Springfield, are directly in the impact zone.
Residents are urged to protect tender vegetation tonight by covering plants or moving them indoors. Sensitive crops may suffer significant damage if not properly sheltered.
Tuesday’s daytime weather improves, with sunny skies and a high near 43°F. However, another frost risk returns Tuesday night as temperatures dip again to the upper 20s. Winds from the northwest will ease, creating calmer but colder overnight conditions.
Looking ahead to the five-day forecast:
- Wednesday: Frost early, followed by a high near 50°F and increasing rain chances at night (80%).
- Thursday: Widespread rain continues, high near 58°F.
- Friday: Partly sunny with a chance of showers, high of 51°F.
- Saturday: Mostly sunny, high near 55°F.
- Sunday: Clear and warmer, with a high near 62°F.
