Cleveland, OH – A flood watch is in effect across much of Ohio, as rain returns tonight, followed by a heavier round of rainfall Friday night through Saturday night. Some local rivers are already experiencing flooding, with additional risks expected over the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, the Maumee River at Waterville, Portage River at Woodville, Eagle Creek at Phalanx Station, and the Black River at Elyria are all under flood warnings. The heaviest rainfall is expected to occur from Friday night to Saturday night, with accumulations ranging from 1.5 to 3 inches, which could exacerbate already rising water levels.

Residents are urged to stay away from floodwaters, particularly at night when high water can be harder to see. The flood watch remains in effect through Sunday morning, with expected rainfall between 0.10 to 0.75 inches tonight, followed by the heavier rounds later in the week.

The National Weather Service advises the public to monitor conditions closely, especially in flood-prone areas, and take necessary precautions to avoid travel disruptions and safety hazards.
