Cleveland, Ohio – Patchy dense fog blanketed parts of northwest and central Ohio early Thursday, reducing visibility to a quarter mile or less and creating hazardous travel conditions for morning commuters.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, visibility dropped significantly along I-75, I-71, and stretches of U.S. Route 30. The fog is expected to linger through 9 a.m. EST, primarily affecting cities such as Toledo, Sandusky, Findlay, and Mansfield.

Drivers are urged to slow down, increase following distance, and use low beam headlights when encountering fog. Sudden changes in visibility are likely, particularly in rural areas and near open fields, where fog can settle more densely. School buses and early deliveries may also be impacted.

The low visibility began forming before dawn, with observations at 4:30 a.m. confirming widespread fog near Lake Erie’s shoreline and extending inland. Conditions are expected to gradually improve mid-morning as temperatures rise and fog dissipates.

Visibility may fluctuate rapidly, so motorists should remain alert until the advisory expires at 9 a.m. Further updates will be issued if fog redevelops later this evening.
