WILMINGTON, Ohio – A thick layer of fog draped across much of southwest Ohio early today, hiding headlights and quieting fields under a blanket of haze. The calm start won’t last long—rain, cold air, and even the season’s first snow are on the way by late Sunday, marking Ohio’s shift toward early winter conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. across much of central and southwest Ohio. Visibility may fall below a quarter mile in spots, especially along I-71 and U.S. 68. Drivers should slow down, use low-beam headlights, and plan for reduced visibility through midmorning.

By this evening, rain develops and becomes steady through Sunday morning. As a cold front pushes south, temperatures will tumble into the 30s, changing rain to snow across northern parts of the Miami Valley and into the I-70 corridor. Minor accumulations under an inch are possible by early Monday, but slick roads and bridges could still pose travel issues, especially for early commuters and those returning from weekend events.

Winds will shift northwest, ushering in a true November chill with highs only in the 30s Monday. Veterans Day brings calmer weather, with sunshine and highs near 40°F before a milder pattern returns midweek.

Residents should prepare for a quick cool-down—swap wiper blades if needed, check tire tread, and plan extra drive time through Monday morning as Ohio gets its first taste of winter air this season.
