Wilmington, Ohio – Triple-digit heat index values and afternoon thunderstorms could disrupt travel and daily routines across southern Ohio on Monday, July 28th, as a Heat Advisory remains in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for Clinton County and surrounding areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, dangerous heat and isolated severe storms are expected to develop Monday afternoon and continue through early evening. The advisory includes US-68, I-71, and surrounding rural routes, where pavement temperatures will soar, and sudden downpours could create slick roads or flash flooding.

A mix of sunshine and building humidity will push actual highs into the upper 80s, but the heat index could top 100°F. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Power grid strain is possible due to prolonged air conditioning use.

By Tuesday, the region gets a brief break with sunny skies and highs near 91°F, but another round of storms is likely Wednesday, with a renewed chance of localized flash flooding. The National Weather Service notes that storm chances may linger through Thursday morning before calmer weather returns.
