Columbus residents will feel one last burst of summer heat with highs near 84 on Monday, just before October’s cooler air arrives. Drivers along I-70 and across central Ohio can expect dry, safe travel conditions through Tuesday, with plenty of sunshine and light winds.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will climb steadily into the low to mid-80s through Monday before a noticeable drop by midweek. The cooler shift arrives Wednesday, with highs only reaching the upper 70s and fall-like mornings settling into the region.

Sunny skies dominate today with a high near 82, and Sunday follows suit with 88 expected across Franklin and Delaware counties. Clear evening skies keep visibility strong for travelers on I-270 and U.S. 33, but low humidity and calm winds will make nights cool and comfortable.

By Monday, central Ohio reaches its warmest stretch of this pattern. While the air stays dry, residents should limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat and keep hydrated. Energy demand may climb with increased air conditioning use, but relief is just ahead as the calendar flips to October.

Tuesday still offers mostly sunny conditions with highs near 80, but clouds increase by evening. The season’s first widespread fall pattern emerges Wednesday, bringing cooler air and highs closer to 78, with a noticeable crispness returning by Thursday.

Weather officials note the dry stretch continues through Friday, but October could bring an active storm track to the Midwest. More advisories may follow as cooler fronts build later next week.
