Wilmington, OH – Colder-than-average temperatures are expected to persist across Ohio and the central U.S. into mid-December, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
Forecasters say a broad area of below-normal temperatures will dominate the eastern half of the nation between December 9–13, extending across the Ohio Valley, Great Lakes, and Northeast. The cold pattern follows an Arctic air push that has kept highs well below seasonal averages this week.
While exact temperatures will vary, much of Ohio can expect daytime highs in the 30s and 40s and overnight lows in the 20s, about 10 degrees below normal for this time of year. Periodic light snow or flurries may accompany these cold spells, though no major systems are forecast at this time.
The National Weather Service encourages residents to prepare for continued cold conditions, check heating systems, and review winter safety guidance available at weather.gov/safety/winter.
