Ohio – Cold air cuts sharply across central Ohio this morning, stiffening hands and leaving roads dull and brittle. Snow is lining up just west of the region, and conditions are set to deteriorate fast as the next winter system pushes in.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect through midday as wind chills fall to near 10 below zero. A Winter Storm Warning is now active and continues through Monday. Snow totals between 8 and 12 inches are expected across central and west-central Ohio, including the Columbus metro.

Temperatures sit near 3 degrees early, struggling to rise through the teens. Snow develops and intensifies through Sunday, becoming heavy at times. Gusty northeast winds will reduce visibility and blow snow back onto treated roads. Travel conditions are expected to worsen quickly after snow rates increase.

Major routes including I-70, I-71, and I-270 could see snow-covered lanes and slowdowns. The Monday morning commute may be severely impacted. Flash freezing remains a concern as even brief melting refreezes rapidly after sunset, creating hidden ice.

Residents should consider limiting travel, charging devices, and checking heating systems. Keep extra blankets, food, and medications ready. If travel is unavoidable, carry emergency supplies and allow extra stopping distance.

Snow tapers Monday, but cold air remains locked in. Temperatures stay below normal into midweek, with occasional snow chances and icy mornings continuing through Thursday.

Weather alerts remain in effect, and additional updates may be issued as snow bands shift.
