Ohio – Warm air is building fast across central Ohio, but storm clouds are already lining up to disrupt travel later today, especially during the afternoon and evening drive.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures rise to around 75°F with increasing clouds and a growing chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph, adding to travel concerns as storms develop.

Across Columbus, including I-70, I-71, and I-270, roads stay dry through early afternoon. Conditions begin to shift quickly later in the day as scattered storms move in. Expect brief downpours, reduced visibility, and slick pavement during peak travel hours. Plan extra time and keep headlights on.

Storm chances continue into the evening before tapering. By Saturday, calmer air returns with sunshine and a cooler high near 67°F. That break will be short-lived.

Sunday brings a sharp warm-up, with highs jumping to around 82°F under partly sunny skies. The quick rebound signals a more active and unstable pattern ahead.

By Monday, another round of showers develops, with a 40 percent chance of rain and highs near 80°F. Thunderstorms remain possible into Monday night, potentially impacting late travel.

Looking ahead, temperatures stay above normal into next week, with highs in the 80s and periodic storm chances continuing across the region.
