Cleveland, Ohio – Snow bands off Lake Erie will ramp up after 6 p.m. Sunday, dropping up to 5 inches across northeast Ohio and creating slick travel through early Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. Sunday until 1 a.m. Tuesday for Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula Inland, Medina and Summit counties. While light snow during the day Sunday brings minimal impact, lake-enhanced snow will intensify this evening. Periods of moderate to heavy snowfall may develop late tonight and continue at times Monday, with totals between 3 and 5 inches and locally higher amounts where bands linger.

Cleveland, Mentor, Painesville and Ashtabula inland communities could see rapidly changing conditions as narrow bands shift. Farther south, Akron, Medina and Brunswick may experience heavier bursts that coat I-77, I-271 and I-71. Visibility can drop quickly under stronger snow showers, especially during the Monday morning and evening commutes.

The Ohio Department of Transportation urges drivers to slow down and check real-time conditions at OHGO.com before traveling. Snow bands should weaken late Monday night, but slick spots may persist until the advisory expires at 1 a.m. Tuesday. Additional updates are possible if heavier snow develops.
