Cleveland, Ohio – A sharp weather shift will hit Ohio within hours Sunday, as warm temperatures in the 70s give way to showers, thunderstorms, and a rapid cooldown by Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a cold front will move west to east across the state Sunday afternoon, triggering scattered showers and a few stronger thunderstorms, especially across southern Ohio. Northern counties, including Cleveland, Toledo, and Akron, will start the day mild before temperatures fall quickly later in the afternoon as the front passes.

Cities along the I-71 and I-77 corridors may see brief downpours and gusty winds with passing storms. While severe weather is not expected to be widespread, isolated stronger cells could develop, particularly south of U.S. Route 30.

By Sunday night, colder air will settle in across the region, with overnight lows dropping into the 40s. High temperatures Monday will struggle to recover, staying in the low to mid-40s across much of northern Ohio, nearly 30 degrees colder than Sunday afternoon.

Residents should prepare for changing conditions by keeping rain gear handy and securing outdoor items ahead of gusty showers. The cooler pattern will persist into early next week, with additional scattered snowbelt showers possible Sunday night.
