Wilmington, Ohio – A winter system will bring accumulating snow to much of southwest and central Ohio tonight into early Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Forecasters expect 3 to 5 inches of snow for much of the area, with slightly lower totals toward south-central Ohio and northeast Kentucky, where a brief period of freezing rain could occur. A light glaze of ice is possible in these southern zones before the precipitation transitions fully to snow.

Snow is expected to begin late this evening and continue through early Tuesday, tapering off near daybreak. The Tuesday morning commute will be significantly impacted, with untreated roads and bridges likely becoming snow-covered and slick.

Motorists are urged to allow extra travel time and use caution during the morning hours, as even light icing and moderate snow accumulation can cause hazardous driving conditions.

Temperatures will remain below freezing through much of Tuesday, preventing rapid improvement in road conditions until later in the day.
