Coshocton, Ohio – Floodwaters are already pushing into neighborhoods and roadways tonight as two eastern Ohio rivers rise above flood stage, creating immediate travel hazards and property concerns through Sunday and Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, the Muskingum River in Coshocton reached 15.2 feet by 9 p.m. Saturday and is expected to crest near 15.5 feet by Sunday morning. That level exceeds the 15.0-foot flood stage and is already flooding low-lying areas, including sections along Route 16 south of the city and County Road 1A to the north, where water is approaching homes.

In Tuscarawas County, Stillwater Creek at Uhrichsville stood at 11.3 feet Saturday night, above its 10.0-foot flood stage. Minor flooding is ongoing in poor drainage areas, with water spilling out of banks in multiple locations. Levels there are expected to drop below flood stage by early Sunday afternoon.

Drivers across eastern Ohio should avoid flooded roads, especially overnight when water depth is harder to judge. Emergency officials warn that most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles. Residents in vulnerable areas should move vehicles to higher ground and prepare for limited access.

Flood warnings remain in effect through Sunday evening in Uhrichsville and through Monday evening in Coshocton, with additional updates expected Sunday morning.
