Cleveland, Ohio – Drivers across northeast Ohio could face reduced visibility and slick spots today as light snow and rain move through during the morning and evening commute windows.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, periods of light rain and snow will develop through early evening, with the most consistent activity expected before sunset. High temperatures will remain below normal, hovering near 40 degrees in Cleveland, Akron, and Canton, while lakeshore communities like Ashtabula and Erie stay in the upper 30s.
Any snow accumulation is expected to remain under a half inch and will mainly impact higher terrain in inland northwest Pennsylvania and far northeast Ohio. Even so, brief bursts of snow could create slick overpasses along I-90, I-271, and I-77 during peak travel times.
Cloud cover will persist through much of the day before gradual clearing begins late tonight. While widespread impacts are not expected, changing precipitation types could catch drivers off guard.
Residents should allow extra travel time, especially during the evening commute, and stay alert for rapidly changing road conditions.
Additional updates may be issued if precipitation becomes more widespread or temperatures drop faster than expected overnight.
