Columbus, OH – A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of Ohio and Indiana, with freezing rain expected to create hazardous travel conditions Wednesday evening into early Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio, the advisory covers portions of east-central and southeast Indiana, as well as central, south-central, southwest, and west-central Ohio. Ice accumulation of up to one-tenth of an inch is forecasted, potentially making roads slick.
The first advisory begins at 5 p.m. Wednesday and lasts until 2 a.m. Thursday, impacting cities such as Dayton, Xenia, and Chillicothe. A second advisory, covering Columbus, Springfield, and Delaware, takes effect at 7 p.m. and continues until 5 a.m. Thursday. The freezing rain could lead to difficult driving conditions, particularly during the evening commute.
Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution. Ohio drivers can check road conditions at ohgo.com, while Indiana travelers can visit 511in.org for updates. Pedestrians should also be careful on sidewalks, stairs, and driveways, which may be icy.
The weather system is expected to move out of the region by Thursday morning, but lingering icy patches could still pose travel risks.
