Cincinnati, Ohio – The first widespread winter event of the season will arrive Monday evening across the Ohio Valley, bringing snow and a light glaze of ice that could make for a hazardous Tuesday morning commute across Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky.
According to the National Weather Service, Winter Weather Advisories are in effect from 7 p.m. Monday through late Tuesday morning. Snow will begin in western Indiana before spreading east into Ohio and northern Kentucky overnight. Most areas can expect 2 to 4 inches of snow, though localized totals up to 5 inches are possible near Dayton, Columbus, and along the I-70 corridor.
In southern and central Kentucky, including Louisville and Lexington, precipitation will mix with sleet and freezing rain, leaving a light glaze of ice that could make bridges and overpasses treacherous. Major interstates — including I-64, I-65, I-70, and I-75 — are expected to see slick spots through early Tuesday.
Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra time, and check 511 travel updates before heading out. Conditions should gradually improve by midday Tuesday as temperatures rise and the system shifts east.
