Pittsburgh, PA – Residents across southwest Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and northern West Virginia should brace for isolated flash flooding and damaging winds through Sunday evening as storms move across the region. Heavy rain could hit hardest south of Interstate 80, with the National Weather Service warning of localized flooding in low-lying or urban areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe storms is in effect this afternoon and evening. Gusty winds are the main threat, but torrential downpours may overwhelm drainage systems, especially in areas like Beaver, Allegheny, and Monongalia counties.

Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roadways and monitor for sudden water level changes. Rural routes in Greene, Washington, and Noble counties could become hazardous during peak rainfall.

Looking ahead, dangerous heat is forecast Monday through Wednesday, with heat index values ranging from 95 to 100°F in most lowland areas. Residents without air conditioning should plan to stay cool, hydrate, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

More alerts may follow as storm activity and high temperatures continue. Stay weather-aware and follow local emergency guidance through midweek.
