Wilmington, Ohio – Cooler-than-normal temperatures will grip much of Ohio through the weekend, with early morning lows dropping into the low 40s Saturday night across the southern half of the state.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, daytime highs Saturday will struggle to reach the upper 60s to low 70s across much of southwest and central Ohio. Skies will gradually clear, offering more sunshine, but hazy conditions are likely due to lingering wildfire smoke drifting south from Canada.
Cincinnati, Dayton, and Chillicothe are expected to see Saturday night lows as chilly as 43°F, while areas like Wilmington and Washington Court House may dip to 42°F. Residents heading to early morning events or markets should dress in layers.
While no major precipitation is expected, the combination of cool air and smoke haze could impact visibility, especially during the early morning and evening hours. Sensitive groups should limit prolonged outdoor activity.
Temperatures are expected to moderate slightly by Sunday afternoon, but overnight lows will remain well below seasonal averages. The National Weather Service will continue to monitor air quality and visibility concerns from the northern smoke plume.
